UPPSC RO ARO Syllabus 2023
History of India, Indian National Movement, Indian Polity, Economy, and Culture, Geography and Natural Resources of India and world Geography, Population, Ecology, and Urbanization (in Indian Context), Indian Agriculture, Commerce, and Trade, General Science, Current National and International Important Events.
The prelims exam consists of two papers, each worth 200 marks. The main examination consists of three papers, each worth 120 marks.
To be eligible for the exam, candidates must:
- Have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in India or equivalent
- Have a minimum speed of 25 words in Hindi typewriting
- Have an “O” Level certificate awarded by the DOEACC Society or a qualification equivalent thereto

- Indian National Movement
- Indian Polity, Economy and Culture
- Indian agriculture, commerce and trade
- Population, Environment and Urbanization (Indian Perspective)
- World Geography and India’s Geography and Natural Resources
Mains Syllabus includes:
- Explanation of passage, underlined part, summary
- resume writing in official form
- Antonyms
- sentence and spelling
- polysemous words
- Correspondence (official and semi-official letters)
- Conversion of English words into Hindi
- Conversion of words from Hindi to English
Preference is given to candidates who are also fluent in English typewriting.

- The UPPSC RO ARO Prelims exam consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions.
- There will be 2 papers for a total of 200 marks.
- For each correct answer,1 mark will be rewarded and there will be a negative marking of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer.

The UPPSC RO ARO mains syllabus consists of three papers:

- General Hindi and Drafting
- Hindi Essay
